No. 520 Swivel-Lock Stretcher

The Swivel-Lock Stretcher gives you the benefits of both straight and swivel heads. The head has 60° of free swivel for patterned carpet. Depress the built-in lock pin, and you can lock the swivel in 5 convenient positions. Lock in the straight position for square stretching, or at 15° for most angle stretching. There’s even a 30° setting for extreme angles found in “L” shaped living/dining rooms. Also features a stretch lock button for partial stretches. Pin depth adjustment bar allows for variable pin depth penetration for different carpet thicknesses. Adjusts with two screws in the pin plate. Comes with Auto-Lok Tube, 3 extension tubes, transfer tube, and folding tail block. Adjusts from 37 inches to 23 feet and can be lengthened with additional tubes. Available in double case model only. The No. 499 fixed head stretcher comes with a push-button locking power handle, Auto-Lok tube, 3 extension tube sections, 1 transfer tube section, folding tail block, and separate head and tube cases. The Auto-Lok tube provides fast length adjustments in flexible increments. The tubes adjust from 37 inches to 23 feet, and can be lengthened with additional extension tubes (No. 502). The folding tail block allows you to stretch off walls, corners, or posts. The pin depth adjusting knob on the driving head provides variable pin depth settings, without the screws or screwdrivers found on other stretchers. Model No. 499 comes with separate head and tube cases that distribute the weight and provide room for additional components. No. 514 Mini-Stretcher with Seam Attachment

This versatile and compact stretcher works without tubes by hooking the tail blade attachment onto the tack strip. It can stretch in tight areas, or wherever the tail block of a conventional stretcher can’t be braced against an opposite wall (example: at sliding glass doors). It is fast and convenient for restretching jobs. The power handle locks to hold a stretch. Also comes with seam repair attachment that pulls seams together for repairs, or for pattern matching when necessary. Uses standard Crain No. 1505-K Gripper Inserts for nap grips. No. 513 Seam Repair Attachment

This seam repair attachment can be used with the No. 512 Mini-Stretcher or as a replacement part for the No. 514 Mini-Stretcher w/Seam Att. When attached, it allows the tool to be used as a seam repair stretcher by pulling the carpet edges together. In this configuration it can also be used for pattern matching. Uses standard Crain No. 1505-K Gripper Inserts for nap grips. Top knob provides fast adjustment of pin depth. Net weight: 4 lbs.

No. 518 Stair Claw

This tool provides a simple way to stretch carpet across the stair tread and form it around the stair nosing. Hook the gripper teeth in the carpet just ahead of the stair nosing, then pull the leverage handle down. A pulling action is generated on the teeth that stretches the carpet across the stair tread. At the same time, the bottom edge of the tool tucks the carpet up under the stair nosing. Recesses in the bottom edge allow the nose of the tacker to be inserted for easy stapling. A tough job is made easier with the Stair Claw! Net weight: 2 ounces.

The holes of the tubes are punched rather than drilled for precision and durability. The spring buttons are flat on their top faces for smooth adjustment. No. 1500-23 Folding Tail Block

This multi-function three-position tail block has a 20 inch flat position for stretching off straight walls. It folds square for stretching off outside corners found in "L"-shaped living room / dining rooms. You can stretch off round posts by putting the legs at a 135° angle. This also locks the pivot so you can stretch all the way around a post as can be helpful in basements. This tail block also has wheels to help move it down the wall fast, and solid rubber pads that help it stay put under load. Works with all Crain stretchers, as well as other stretchers with standard poles. Net weight: 4.5 lbs.

No. 161 Notched Carpet Spreader

The notched carpet spreader is made from flexible steel. It can be used to press and hold the carpet in the gully at the tack strip while the stretch is released. This causes the carpet's backing to set better on the pins of the tack strip. The blade of this spreader is flexible enough that it can also be used in tight spaces as a glue spreading trowel. Notches are 1/16 inch x 1/16 inch "U"-type. The blue plastic handle is ergonomically contoured. Blade width: 12 inches. Net weight: 8 oz.

The plain carpet spreader is made with thicker 16 gauge plated steel without notches. It holds the carpet on the tack strip as the stretch is released for better setting of the pins into the carpet's backing. With no notches, the tool makes a better tucking tool. Push it down the wall with pressure on the handle, and it tucks the carpet without catching yarns. The thicker blade does not bend under load. The black plastic handle is ergonomically contoured. The cotton grip head for our No. 499 and 500 Power Stretchers is recommended when stretching Berber carpets, loop pile carpets, and other low-level commercial carpets. The wire nap grips of this head are less likely to pull or snag loops or yarns that are easily damaged by the standard stretcher pin plate. Nap grips are replaceable. Net weight: 4 lbs.
